She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Rider and Olive Rider (Fries); and her son-in-law Roger Szmurlo. She is survived by: her husband James DeMeester; her children, Gary DeMeester (Debbie) of Carmel and Gayle Szmurlo of Indianapolis; her granddaughters, Stephanie Tennessen (Steve) and Kimberly DeMeester-Kutylo (Andrew); and her great grandchildren, Madeline and Violet Tennessen.

In her memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
