He was predeceased by: his daughter Anita M. McCreary; and his parents, John Auras McCreary and Iva May McCreary (Owens). He is survived by: his wife Mary Elizabeth McCreary (O'Brien); his children, John J. McCreary (Viviana), Deanna K. McMillen (Richard) and Elizabeth A. McCreary (Ryan Jones); his grandchildren, Ian, Rachel, Aidan McCreary, Jacob, Zachariah McMillen, Julian and Serenity Jones; his aunt Elaine Owens; and also Jan McCreary Anderson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and close cousins.
He was a longtime supporter of The Sierra Club, The Arbor Day Foundation, The National Parks Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, and The Special Olympics. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one of these foundations.
