He was predeceased by: his parents, John Oakerson and Letha Oakerson (Hodson) of Modoc; his in-laws, Claude and Eileen Bales; his son-in-law Stephen Tucker; his brother Gene; his siblings-in-law, Karen Oakerson, Bob Cadwallader, Louann Oakerson, Bill Bales, Keith and Janet Bales; his granddaughter Amanda Bunch; his great grandchild Clementine Helfst; his nieces, Cindy Hendrickson and Sheryl Lips; and his nephew Richard Cadwallader.
He is survived by: his wife Sonnie (Sonnie); his children, Marnetta Tucker of Anderson, IN, Darla Shore (Doug) of Modoc, IN, Donna Helfst (Ed Bosch Jr.) of Independence, KY, Bret Oakerson (Sheryl) of Richmond, IN and Debbie Hanney (Peter) of Adelaide, SA; his son-in-law Bob Helfst of Dunkirk, IN; his siblings, Phyllis Cadwallader and Ron Oakerson (Sherry); his sisters-in-law, Martha Griffin (Larry) and Naida Bales; and his grandchildren, Travis Catron (Megan), Bob Helfst (Lilli), Alexis Cross (Aaron), Jordan Helfst (Emily), Conner Shore (Hannah), Spencer Shore (Peyton Truver), Matthew Tucker and Haley Tucker. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, and treasured nieces, nephews and cousins, and countless lifelong friends.
