He was predeceased by : his father Pastor J. L. Schaffer. He is survived by : his sisters, Cindy Schaffer and Susan Schaffer (Bob); his friend Charlie Roberts of Monticello, Indiana; and his nieces and nephews, David Bear (Heather Barnes) of Ohio, Ashlee Pebworth (Corey) of Missouri, Schatzie Bear of Kentucky, Candace Bear (Preston) of Kentucky, Johnny Bear of Florida, Sierra Bear (Frank Dejesus) of Ohio, Dustin Smith (Jeanna) of Tennessee, Christopher Smith (Deirdre) of Missouri, Brian Smith (Nancy) of Tennessee, Lisa Lash (Jay) of Indiana, Christa Gallo (Jeremy) of Indiana and Numerous. He is also survived by Numerous Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Cousins.

Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross.
