He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle S. Abbott and Anna Lou Abbott (Franklin); his son Billy Lyle Abbott; his brother Randy G. Abbott; and his grandparents, Wid, Hattie Abbott, Goble and Virginia Franklin.

He is survived by: his children, Travis "Putter" Abbott of Monticello and Billie Peterson (Kyle) of Bunker Hill; his grandchildren, Reis Clark, Maya Abbott, Kayton Peterson and Taylor Peterson; and his sister Loleta. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
