It is with sadness that the passing of John Harmon Ickes of Montpelier, Indiana is shared. John Harmon, born on January 30, 1942, passed away on September 4, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Ickes and Wilma Dean Ickes (Crockett); and his sisters, Sue Felton and Sandra Ickes. He is survived by: his sons, John H. Ickes II (Heather) of Chicago, IL, Chad M. Ickes (Thi) of Montpelier, IN and Benjamin T. Ickes (Jeannen) of Clarksville, TN; his grandchildren, Justine Ickes (Jase Small) of Montpelier, IN, Cameron Ickes (Tara) of Montpelier, IN and Chad Ickes II of Garrett, IN; his great grandchild Isabelle Hope Ickes of Montpelier, IN; and his sisters, Nelva Forrester Rogers of Hartford, IN and Kay Kershner of North Carolina. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home (109 W Windsor St, Montpelier, IN 47359). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Preferred memorials may be made to Woodlawn Cemetery.
