He was predeceased by: his wife Jerry; his parents, John Banser and Vera Marceil Banser; and his siblings, Tom, Tim Banser and Patricia Banser.
He is survived by: his children, Tina Vanderborg (Tim), Doug Handley (Mindi) and Kim Doolin (Joe); his grandchildren, Derek Kormendy, Zachary Kormendy (Angela), Tim, Joey, April, Clayton, Ty Handley, Caroline and Keegan Doolin; his great grandchildren, Harpen, Kavan, Quintin, Riley and Nathan; and his sisters, Ellen Sue Brooks and Paula Scott.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre (606 E 113th Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to the Salvation Army.
