It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Melvin Hanshew of Mount Vernon, Indiana, who passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though James Melvin may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James Melvin touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Clifford and Juanita Fern Hanshew (Glass); and his sisters, Sona Sue Anderson, Patsy Ruth Hanshew and Deanna M. Popp. He is also survived by friends and loving caregivers.
