He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Mitchell and Martha Mitchell (Ingle); his granddaughter Nikki Y. Mitchell; and his siblings, Ronald, Harold, Roscoe, Elwood Mitchell, Lela Buzan and Elizabeth Jeffries.
He is survived by: his wife Erma Mitchell (Montgomery); his children, Steve Mitchell (Betsy), Scott Mitchell (Stacey), Dave Mitchell and Julie Stedeford; his grandchildren, Tim Mitchell, Abbey Mitchell, Elijah, Serena and Josiah Stedeford; and his great grandchild Oakley Choate. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schneider Funeral Home (512 Main St, Mt Vernon, IN 47620). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at the Bellefontaine Cemetery (5500 Industrial Rd, Mt Vernon, IN 47620).
