She was predeceased by : her parents, Merle Thomas and Dorothy Thomas (Stephens); her husband Gerald "Jerry" Carpenter, Sr.; her brother Ronald Thomas; and her siblings-in-law, William Carpenter and June Kemp (Benton).

She is survived by : her children, Gerald "Jerry" Lee Carpenter, Jr. (Tammy), Robin Lahrman (Gary), Brian Carpenter (Lydia) and Mark Carpenter (Carrie); her grandchildren, Charity Woodard (Mike), Brooke Sanders (Aaron Weaver), Derrick Lahrman (Sonya), Morgan Smith (Brad) and Jennifer Riccus; and her sisters-in-law, Kay Birden and Susie Bibler (Dave). She is also survived by ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
