He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hiatt and Guyneth Hiatt (Sheets); his son Todd Hiatt; his sisters, Dorothy Thomas and Ondoise Smith; and his brother-in-law David Thomas (Dago).

He is survived by: his wife Rosalie Hiatt (Gibson); his children, Charles Hiatt (C. K.), Lesa Hill (Jody), Leland Hiatt, Lesley Schaeffer and Chris Hinds; his grandchildren, Lorina McGrorty, Hannah Brooks Cara Hiatt, Bradley Hiatt, Brooke Morris, Katie Sibley, Jeremy Hill, Jillian Derkach, Lacy Hill, Melissa Hinds, Amanda Schaeffer Lufkin and Erik Schaeffer; his sister-in-law Sandra Jordan; his nieces and nephews, David Thomas (Debbie), Rick Shuttleworth, DeAnn Klinedinst (Kevin) and Coreda Steele; Ethan Hinds. He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren.
