He was predeceased by: his mothers, Frances M. Vance and Matilda Vance (Messer); and his siblings, Juanita King, Coleen Macy, William Vance and Otis Vance.

He is survived by: his sons, Charles Vance, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Muncie and Jayson Vance, Sr. of Eminence, Missouri; his significant other Doris Thomas; his significant other's children, Debbie, Theresa, Susan, Peggy and Tom; his sisters, Cathy Shoaf, Jean Partin and Frances Perkins; and his grandchildren, Heaven-Leigh Bennett, Joseph Vance, Joshua Vance, Zoey Vance, Jayson Vance Jr., Christopher Vance, Amanda Jordan, Jayden Tzarfati and Dean Vance. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
