He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Cox and E. Ruth Cox; and his brother Darrell Cox. He is survived by: his children, James Cox (Donna), Carrie Ballinger, Latissia Cox and Anita Chappel; and his brothers, Gordon Cox (Pam) and Charles Cox (Patti). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
