He was predeceased by: his former wife Mariette. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his children, Lois Green (Bob), Vincent Vermeulen, Elizabeth Vermeulen (Gary Edwards), Rebecca, Jennifer Orchard (Paul) and Maggie Wright (John); and his sisters, Joan Bradt and Sylvia Claxton (Sam). He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Parson Mortuary (801 W Adams St, Muncie, IN 47305).
In keeping with his love of life's simple pleasures, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, loved ones take a Sunday drive and treat themselves to some ice cream. Those who wish to make a contribution in Eugene's memory may instead donate to Muncie A.R.F (Animal Rescue Fund) or Action for Animals.
