He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph S. Johnson and Maribel Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Johnson (Rolland); his children, Timothy Johnson and Christina Smith (Ryan); his grandchildren, Logan Smith and Alexis Thirey (Craig); his great grandchildren, Azariah and Micaiah; and his cousin Marty Stephens (Marvin).
