She was predeceased by : her parents, Don Thompson and Rosella Thompson; her sisters, Sally Jones and Betty Miller; and her daughter Deborah Brown.

She is survived by : her husband Eugene Smekens; her sister Patsy Boller; and her children, Todd Smekens and Stephanie Fleming. She is also survived by her grandchildren; great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Garden View Funeral Home (10501 IN-3, Muncie, IN 47303). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
