She was predeceased by: her parents, John Wesley Hayes and Marcella Linzy Isom; her brother John Wesley Hayes, Jr.; and her former husband John Calvin Wilkins. She is survived by: her children, Robert Wilkins (Amy "Amina") of Washington, D. C. and Laurence Wilkins of Muncie; her grandchildren, Bakari Wilkins and Ayla; and her sister Marcella Armstrong (George) of Indianapolis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
