He was predeceased by: his father John Milton Vaught; his stepfather Edwin Morrow; and his sister Judy Parr. He is survived by: his mother Jo Ann Morrow (Leffingwell); his wife Beverly Vaught (Geer); his children, Matthew Vaught and Leslie Vaught (Edward Wiley); and his siblings, Bruce Vaught (Judy), John Vaught (Renea) and Tammie Ross. He is also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
