With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Phillip D. Howard (Muncie, Indiana), born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on April 12, 2023 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dr. Robert Eugene Howard and Marie Margaret Butz Howard; his aunts and uncles, Dr. Earl L. Butz and U. S. Secretary of Agriculture; his cousins, Dave Butz, Super Bowl Champion and Redskins of Washington; his siblings, Daniel Howard and Jean Riezman; his children, James Howard (Marina) and Christina Johnson (Tyler); his grandchildren, Charles Robert Johnson and Jaelyn Marie Howard; his brother Paul Howard (Gale); and his brother-in-law Richard Riezman. He was also cherished by one niece, and four nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Muncie in honor of the 1997 and 1999 Boys State Championship teams.
