He is survived by: his wife Janet Cates; his sons, Garett Cates (Katie) and Tanner Cates; his granddaughter Charlotte Cates; and his brothers, Steve Cates (Jane) and Brian Cates (Angie). He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
