Richard T. Wagner Obituary
Muncie – Richard T. Wagner, 78, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022.
He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on January 2, 1944, the son of Richard T. Wagner Sr. and June I. (Thurau) Wagner and graduated from Johnstown Central High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Richard obtained degrees in sociology and psychology from Ball State University. In 2008, he retired from Pendleton/New Castle Correctional Facilitys as Assistant Administrator of Operations after a thirty-five year career. After retirement he opened a Quiznos franchise with the help of his family.
Richard was an avid walker, often walking six days a week. His favorite spot to walk was Beech Grove Cemetery, where he became well liked by the staff and other walker's dogs, that he always carried treats for. While walking, he listened to NPR and never missed his favorite program, Science Friday.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Diane Wagner; son, Andrew Wagner; a sister, Margaret Wagner of Muncie; brother, Ernest D. Wagner of Washington; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the mortuary.
