Steven M. Tapley Obituary
Steven M. Tapley, 34, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at his residence.
Steven was born March 16, 1991, in Muncie, the son of James and Jennifer (Hull) Hurst. He graduated from Delta High School and attended Ivy Tech Community College, where he was studying business courses to fulfill his dream of owning his own business.
Steven had a passion for anything and everything automotive, He was mechanically inclined and loved working on and fixing cars. He enjoyed working out, fishing, and riding dirt bikes.
Steven had a passion for animals and was a dog lover especially. He loved gardening and landscaping and helping out at home. He was a protective big brother who would have done anything for his siblings. Steven had a wonderful sense of humor.
Steven was very particular about his beard. It was his pride and joy, and it had to be right on point.
Steven is survived by his mother, Jennifer (Robert) Hurst; his father, James (Nancy Fry) Tapley; five siblings, Chris Tapley, Tina (Lee) Broxton, Crystal (Riley Sipe) Hurst, Chelsey (Kyler) Clarke, and Madison Tapley; his paternal grandparents, Ron and Shirley Tapley; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Brown; step grandmother, Laura Hurst; nieces and nephews, Russell, River, Titus, Trinity, Teddy, with one on the way; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Alvin Hull; step grandfather, Larry Brown; aunt, Ronda Tapley; and step grandfather, Jim Hurst.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Albany United Methodist Church Youth Building, 145 N. Broadway, Albany, IN.
