He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas William and Alice Elvira Lovell (Lannholm); his son Steven Lovell; his daughter-in-law Ellen Lovell; his granddaughter Crystal Gray; and his sisters, Mary Kelly and Diana Lovell.

He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Bales; his daughter Linda Hopkins (Gary) of Muncie, Indiana; his daughter-in-law Elaine Lovell of Corydon, Indiana; his grandchildren, Lynnette Williams (Scott) of Kokomo, Jason Hopkins (Michelle) of Cincinnati, Jonathan Hopkins (Corina) of Farmland, Jeremy Hopkins (Esther) of Tegucigalpa, Steve Lovell of Muncie and Mark Lovell (Amanda) of Rockford, Illinois; his grandson-in-law Philip Gray; and his siblings, Sharon Kelly of Peoria, Illinois, Gary Lovell (Edie) of Peoria and William Lovell (Bonnie) of Creve Coeur. He is also survived by his family and, in addition to his children and grandchildren, was always close to his brothers and sisters.
