He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Wayne Garrett and Donna Lee Garrett. He is survived by: his daughter Katie Thompson (Andrew); his former spouse Laurel Garrett; his aunt Gloria Sawyer; and his grandchildren, Charlotte and Garrett.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to your local school music education department.
