She was predeceased by: her husband John W. Brouwer; her daughter Janice Porter; her siblings, Howard DeJong (Norma), Ted DeJong (Gwen), Evelyn Musch (late Garrett), Dolores DeJong and Cynthia Wiltjer (Paul); and her parents, William DeJong and Kate DeJong.
She is survived by: her children, Carol Den Besten, Diane Swets (David) and John Brouwer (Kami KoKesh); her grandchildren, Robert Den Besten (JoAnn), Keith Den Besten (Angela), Kevin Den Besten (Julie), Tricia Derks (Keith), Michael Swets (Emily), Kristen Bruinius (Dave), Heather Blocker (Greg), Cameron Brouwer (Paige), Corinna Rarick (Nathan), Candice Huyser (Travis), Benjamin Porter (Bethany), Joel Porter, Morgan Seo (Hwan) and Chloe Porter; and her siblings, Elaine Duimstra (late Robert), Phyllis Huisman (Jon), Warren DeJong (Susan) and Marvin DeJong (late Sally).
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Oak Glen United Reformed Church (2244 Indiana Ave, Lansing, IL 60438). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the Oak Ridge Cemetery (1881 Thornton Lansing Rd, Lansing, IL 60438).
