She was predeceased by : her parents, Forrest Postma and Edna Postma (Fredrick); her husband Max Gwin; and her sister Vivian Kanowitz. She is survived by : her children, Kent Gwin (Lynne) and Dawn Chouinard (Mark) of Siler City, NC; her grandchildren, Dawn Bushnell and Alden Bushnell (Christy); her great grandchildren, Scott Bushnell, Elliott Bushnell, Reid Bushnell and Eleanor Bushnell; and her sister Carol Wyman (Bob).

Memorial contributions in Betty's name can be given to Nappanee United Methodist Church.
