He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Sr. DeFrees and Laura DeFrees (Stump); his wife Anita Ford; and his sister Carol Burris. He is survived by: his children, Philip DeFrees (Rhonda) of Muncie, IN and Elaine Howell (Charles) of Bluff City, TN; his grandchildren, Andrew DeFrees (Ashley) of Italy, Sarah Siegrist (Kerry) of Nashville, TN and Michael Howell (Cheri Tinney) of Elizabethton, TN; his stepgrandson Kristopher Bilbrey of Muncie; and his great grandchildren, Kane, Devyn DeFrees and Madeline Siegrist.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Thompson Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home (950 N Main St, Nappanee, IN 46550). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
