He was predeceased by: his parents, Ezra J. Bontrager and Marie Catherine Bontrager (Bontrager); his granddaughter Regina Bontrager; and his siblings, Vernon and Wilma Bontrager.
He is survived by: his wife Alma L. Bontrager of Nappanee; his children, LaVern Bontrager (Kathryn) of Nappanee, Edna Borkholder (John) of Bremen, IN, Freeman Bontrager (Hannah) of Nappanee, Ruby Schmucker (Joas) of Wakarusa, IN, Marion Bontrager (Shannah) of Bremen, Leon Bontrager (Ruth) of Nappanee and Johnny Bontrager (Susan) of Wakarusa; and his siblings, Lydia Hochstetler (Harvey) of Colen, MI, William Bontrager (Rosanna) of Leonidas, MI, Sylvia Yoder (Marvin) of Colen, MI, Miriam Bontrager (Orvin) of Sturgis, MI, Freeman Bontrager (Ella Mae) of Sturgis, MI and Marie Yoder (Allen) of Colen, MI.. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 17th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Leon Bontrager Residence (28871 Co Rd 50, Nappanee, IN 46550). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 19th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the same location.
