He was predeceased by: his siblings, Cumal Sandidge, Burval and Howard Skaggs; and his siblings-in-law, Mildred Skaggs, Lee Sandidge, Byron Dishman, Ronnie DeWeese, Pat Yuncker and Chuck Laux.
He is survived by: his significant other Mary Ann Catullo; his children, Timi Lentz (Eric), James "Tony" Skaggs (Annie) and Tania Guelda (Art); his grandchildren, Meghan Lentz (Gary Lytle), Kelsey Goodin (Robby), Lauren Messex (Jarrod), Brooke Lentz (Matt Kremer), Sam Skaggs (Hannah Kennedy), Jake Skaggs and Katie Skaggs; his great grandchildren, Millie Lytle, Logan Goodin, Tatum Messex, Oakley Messex and Bennett Goodin; his nephew Cheyenne Laux (Jessica); his siblings, Norma Dishman, Jody Yuncker, Judy Kornell (Kevin), Bonita DeWeese Clark (Martin) and Larry Skaggs (Jackie); and his sister-in-law Cindy Laux. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and amazing neighbors.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, Sonny's favorite charity was Crusade for Children.
