He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Clegg Sr. and Juanita Jean Clegg (Sperzel); his wife Pamela Clegg (Wessling); his siblings, Richard G. "Treetop" Clegg and Helen Hemberger; and his grandson Michael Clegg.

He is survived by: his son Joseph E. Clegg III (Tricia); and his sisters, Marge Buford (Roy) and Jo Ann Finney (George).
