She was predeceased by: her parents, Curtis Martin and Bonnie Martin (Kelly); her grandson Brandon Rector; and her siblings, Glenn Martin, Bobby Martin, Curtis Martin, Jr., Beulah Harmon, Iona Hitner and Helen Cook.
She is survived by: her husband Charles "Buddie" Sarles; her daughters, Ginnie Rector (Mark) and Robbie Sarles (Richard Schultze); her grandchildren, Brittney Sanders (Justin), Brandy Spidel (Travis), Alex Schultze, Andrew Schultze (Hanna) and Emily Smith (Jacob); and her great grandchildren, Molly Spidel, Adelyn Spidel, Riley Sanders, Reese Sanders, Remi Sanders, Ava Smith and Mia Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Naville & Seabrook Market Street Chapel (1119 E Market St, New Albany, IN 47150). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at the Graceland Memorial Park (2778 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, IN 47150).
Memorial contributions can be directed to the scholarship created to celebrate Opal's undying support for her cherished Bulldogs.
