He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Garoutte and Mabel Garoutte (Galbelth); his daughter-in-law Denise Garoutte; and his siblings, Nadine Sturgis, Mary Louise Nelson, Louise Peterson and Jim Garoutte.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Garoutte (Debbie) of Newburgh, Robert Garoutte (Peggy) of New Carlisle, Michael Gene Garoutte of New Carlisle and Dawn Rice (Ed) of Indianapolis; and his grandchildren, Bridgette Pollard (Joe), Jamie Gullen (Colby), Troy Rice (Angela), Jessica Smith (Bobby), Molly Schellinger (John), Jacob Michael Rice, Stephen Garoutte (Ani), Ryan Robert Garoutte, Julie Weyer (Derrick), Amanda Witmer (Aaron), Christopher Garoutte (Jamie), Shawn Barret, Julie Brenneman (Tom), Michael Singleton (Heather) and Jeff Hurlbut (Kim). He is also survived by twenty five great grandchildren.
