We announce the death of Barbara A. Carnes-Severance (New Castle, Indiana), who passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 82. Barbara will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlile "Bud" Carnes and Lois "Annie" Carnes; and her grandson Richard Emmons. She is survived by: her husband Charles Severance; her children, Carol Rains (John), Peggy Prosser, Ruth Gard, Penny Masters (Dan) and Dean Severance (Cindi); her grandchildren, Craig Morgan (Dixie), Justin Morgan (Ashley), Hayley Rains, Chris Rains, Ameila Brock (Robert), Heather Huddleston (Wes), Holli Robinson (James), Jason Masters (Sammie) and Christopher Masters (Adamaris); her great grandchildren, Paige Morgan, Shelby Morgan, Devani Morgan, Hannah Morgan, Camdyn Brock, Johnathan Brock, Alexis Brock, Emre Robinson and Ella Robinson; her great great grandchild Jaiden Morgan; and her brother Stephen Carnes (Marcia). She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service (3406 S Memorial Dr, New Castle, IN 47362). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
