With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Hurst Ankrom of New Castle, Indiana, who passed away on May 20, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ankrom and Harriett Ankrom (Raffensbarger); his wife Priscilla Mae Ankrom; his daughter Diana Lingenfelter; his granddaughter Rebecca "Becky" Ankrom; his great grandchild Alice Ankrom; and his siblings, Dr. Maurice E. Ankrom, Bonnie N. Shay, Marie Scott, Raymond Ankrom, Michael Ankrom and Sandra Dale.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Mae Orr (Bruce) of New Castle, Catherine L. Moore (Mark) of Clinton, Wisconsin and John I. Ankrom (Dorothy) of Tipton; his grandchildren, John Michael Ankrom (Crystal), Esta Mae Denny, Christina Conyers (Brandon), Tiffany Wooten (Nate), Lesli Denny, Joshua Ankrom, Alycia Sutton (JR), Marcus Moore, Derek Orr (Alissa), Nikki Daffron (Matt) and Neva Orr; and his brother Steve Ankrom of Greenville, NC. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service (3406 S Memorial Dr, New Castle, IN 47362). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
