With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Lewis Carnes Sr. of New Castle, Indiana, who passed away on August 16, 2023 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucian Carnes and Lillian Carnes (Groce); his wife Elaine Carnes (Massengale); and his parents-in-law, Bud and Ruby Massengale.
He is survived by: his children, Tamara Carnes Dalida (Randy) of Georgetown, IL, John Lewis Carnes, Jr. (Sheila) of New Castle, Terry James Carnes (Hope) of New Castle and Debra Ada Carnes of New Castle; his grandchildren, Hannah Elaine, Izabella Dalida, Charlie Steury, Riley James Carnes, Joshua Sanchez (Krista), Jessica Ann-Marie Heishman (Zach) and Shania Hinsky (Trent); his great grandchildren, Rosaline, Malakai, Carson, Zylen, Nikara, Kalel, Michael, Elaina, Ahmiyah, Kemma and Ella; Anna Hawkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
