She was predeceased by : her mother Leah Akers; her grandparents, Willie Sam, Nellie Melton, John and Eolah Akers; and her aunts, Barb Staton, Diana Akers and Melanie Boyer.

She is survived by : her father Alan Melton; her children, Brooke and Lucas; her stepmother Linda Melton of New Castle; and her close friends, Amanda Kincaid and Shery Jordan. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Samantha Overton Memorial Fund to assist with funeral expenses with envelopes available at the funeral home.
