It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alfrieda Dewaelsche of New Haven, Indiana, born in Mishawaka, Indiana, who passed away on January 2, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Alphonse Vooren and Madeline Van Vooren; her brother Raymond "Bud" Van Vooren; and her brothers-in-law, Ray DeCloedt and Ron Kinch.

She is survived by : her husband Donald; her children, Eileen Barfell (Tom) of New Haven, Ind, Cathleen Hertig (Rick) of Harlan and Robert Dewaelsche (Marshon) of Prudenville, MI; her grandchildren, Ben Barfell (Melissa), Nicholas Barfell (Caterine), Rachel Scharafin (Stephen), Jack Barfell, Nathan Hertig (Sarah), Adam Hertig (Brittany), Andrew Hertig (Kaley), Ashley Dangler (Nick), Shelby and Elle Humphries; her close friend Francis Henry; her sisters, Mary Ann DeCloedt and Elaine Kinch; and her sister-in-law Donna Van Vooren. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Promedica Hospice.
