David E. Hakes Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David E. Hakes of New Haven, Indiana, who passed away on September 17, 2025, at the age of 53, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though David may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those David touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Hakes and Virginia Hakes (Taylor). He is survived by: his wife Cindy Hakes of New Haven, Indiana; his sisters, Jennifer Keller (Ron) of Decatur, Indiana, Deb Schnepp (Erik) of Michigan and Peggy Moore (Joe) of Goshen, Indiana; and his pets, Sophie, Bella and Snowy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with his grandbabies.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home- Decatur (520 N 2nd St, Decatur, IN 46733). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
