He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladys Marie Townsend (Goodlet) and Fred Townsend; his in-laws, J. D. and Myrtle Miller; his sister Doneva Townsend Ely; his brothers-in-law, Jeff Miller, Ron Miller and Larry Flynn; and his nephews, Dennis Roark and Logan Brady.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Kay Townsend (Miller); his children, Natalie Turpin (Chris) of Doneva, D. D. and Drew Townsend (Brittany); his grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kaylee, Austyn Turpin, Kennady, Beau, Scarlett Perkins, Everleigh and Ensley Townsend; his sister Marlen Flynn; his siblings-in-law, Marsha Brady, Tracy Miller, Debby Miller, John Miller, Doug Miller and Burton Ely; and his sibling's children, Rodney Roark, Charles D. Rollins (Kelli), Jason Butcher (Jaime), J. J. Miller, Steven, Tyler Brady, Crystal Foster (Brace), Misty Jerrells, Sarah Wilson, Dana Elliott (Austin), Jordan Atchley (Tom) and Breanna Smith (Nick). He is also survived by numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
