He was predeceased by: his parents, Stoddard Brinegar and Ethel Brinegar (Henderson); his wife Phyllis Jean Brinegar (Espy); and his half-siblings, Robert Brinegar, Robert Carson and Valeska Elrod.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kathi Kortz (Randy) and Diana Robinson (John); his granddaughter Jordan Pirsch (Brad Wilcox); his great grandchild Violet Wilcox; and his partner Jan McBride.
