He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Schaeffer and Freda Schaeffer (Weist); his brother Royce Schaeffer; and his brother-in-law Arthur LaBrant. He is survived by: his wife Jane Schaeffer (Bethke); his children, Andrea Grillo (Brad Johnson) of Evansville, IN and Steve Schaeffer of Rockford, IL; his grandchildren, Abby Grillo, Emily Sipes (Payton) and Collin Schaeffer; his siblings, Rebecca LaBrant (Walter Stiles) and Russell Schaeffer (Gretchen); and his pet Sophie.
