He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. Brakel and Lucy E. Brakel (Collins); his wife Alice F. Brakel (Riggs); and his sisters, Barbara Halwes (Norman) and Izetta Brakel.
He is survived by: his sons, Tim Brakel (Lisa) and Keith Brakel (Beth); his grandchildren, Heather "Hannah" St. Meyers, Brittany Blackwell (Brian), Skyler Brakel and Brammer Brakel; his nephew Darvin Halwes (Vicki); and his great grandchildren, Keagan and Amaya Blackwell.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Boone Funeral Home (5330 Washington Ave, Evansville, IN 47715). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
