It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Thomas Tate of Newburgh, Indiana, who passed away on April 29, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, William Leslie and Elise Gregory Tate; and his sister Rosemary Tate Creel. He is survived by : his wife Millie Wood Tate; and his siblings, Carolyn Oglesby of Katy, Texas and Donald Tate of Lenoir. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, and numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

He was also a Certified Lay Speaker in the UMC for many years and prior to covid restrictions, he visited patients living in nursing homes.

Former choir students are welcome to assemble at First United Methodist Church prior to the service to rehearse the closing prayer sung, "The Lord Bless you and keep you."In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Gideon's International.

Michael Goldsberry wrote a sympathy message

“Of all the teachers I've had, Mr. Tate taught the most. Not only about singing, but about life and friendships. The people I sang with in the Choir were all fantastic people, It was my favorite part of High School by far. Rest in peace Mr. Tate, your work in Henderson and the lives you touched will never be forgotten. Sincerely, Michael Goldsberry”
