He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Matern and Agnes Ebbing Matern; his brother Larry "Cooter" Matern; and his brother-in-law Bob Kent. He is survived by: his sons, Damian, Dustin, Devin and Dale Matern; his siblings, Donnie Matern (Eileen), Roger Matern (Kim), Charles "Chuck" Matern (Sheree), Patty Kintner (Ron), Mary Jo Kent and Sharon Low (Tom); and his sister-in-law Tammy Matern. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
