He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Roscoe "Doodle" Johnson Jr. and Shirley Marie Johnson (Burke); his wife Lillian Johnson; his siblings, Donna Brannan and Mark Johnson of Seymour; and his aunt JoAnn Matthews.
He is survived by: his son Tom Johnson (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Zack LaCroix, Laurel Johnson (Brendon Schoenherr) and Jobeth Johnson (Aiden Huffman); his daughter Malissa Smitha (Matt) of Vestavia; his grandchildren, Luke Smitha, Taylor Smitha, Tucker Smitha and Blake Smitha; and his brother Steve Johnson of Seymour. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Reflecting George's strong commitment to Christian education, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Dupont Baptist Academy to support a scholarship fund in his honor.
