He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Deaton and Verna Deaton (Smith); his wife Mary Elizabeth Wilcox; and his sisters, Dorothy Baker, Roberta Stidham, Alma Rae Noble and Edna Sims.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Deaton (Jewell) of North Vernon and Melinda Galliher (Jeff) of North Vernon; his sisters, Wilma Jean Bailey of North Vernon and Helen Smith of North Vernon; his grandchildren, Willie Deaton (Blue) of Seymour, Josie Smith (Tyler) of Sunman, Christopher Galliher of North Vernon, Jared Galliher (Kaylee) of Deputy, Kara Allen (Josh Parker) of North Vernon, Rachel Lewis of Garberville and Joesph Lewis of North Vernon; and his great grandchildren, Charlotte of Seymour, Oaklynn Deaton of Seymour, Walker Smith of Sunman, Clover Horton of Deputy, Aiden Allen of North Vernon and Kenneth Parker of North Vernon. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home (420 S State St, North Vernon, IN 47265). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at the Vernon Cemetery (315 S Pike St, Vernon, IN 47282).
Memorials may be made in honor of Harlan through the funeral home for expenses.
