He was predeceased by : his parents, John F. Ross and Carrie L. Emily Ross; his wife Virginia Dixon; and his sisters, Helen Percifield and Ruby Couch.

He is survived by : his sons, John W. Ross Jr. of North Vernon and Greg Ross (Marcy) of North Vernon; his grandchildren, Austin Ross, Hunter Ross, Sydney Talkington and Halle Ross; his great grandchild Ella Ross; his sister Hazel Tracy; and his close friend Wanda Kiste of Seymour.
