He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Borter and Golda Borter (Hasler); his son Scott; and his siblings, Frankie St. John and Duane'Blackie'Borter.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Borter; his daughters, Christa Beasley (Jeff) and Tina McCullough (Donnie); his grandchildren, Derek Clidienst (Kayna), Dustin McCullough (Zulmy), Andrea Kemp (Levi), Daniel Borter (Madisyn) and Whitney McKee (Dusty); and his great grandchildren, Karli, McKynleigh, Milly, Harlynn, Deklan, Lainey, Jase, Camila, Haisley and Brooks.

A memorial gathering was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Odon United Methodist Church. A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
