Layne J. Chitan Obituary

It is with sadness that the passing of Layne J. Chitan of Odon, Indiana is shared. Layne, born on December 24, 1962, passed away on October 12, 2026. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Layne J. Chitan to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton Jeremiah and Felicity Chitan (Mason). He is survived by: his wife Karen Chitan (Fleary); his children, Kaiziah Chitan, Kayandra Chitan, L. Jesse Chitan, L. Jayden Chitan and Karlainah Chitan; and his adoptive children, Kinda Williams, Nicole Q., Lavinia Nyagaka and Gordon Lindsay. He is also survived by four siblings, uncles and aunts, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many devoted friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, November 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Simon J. Graber Community Building (9164 E 875 N, Odon, IN 47562). A burial will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 at the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery (9335 900 E, Odon, IN 47562).
