He was predeceased by: his parents, John Nikirk and Lela Nikirk (Harvey); his wife Jeanette Cassidy; his siblings, Marshall, Danny Nikirk, Dana O'Neal, Wilma, Margie Henderson, Wanda Roberts, Melvin, Lois Andis and Beatrice Buher; his daughter Cynthia Weathers; and his grandson Jonathon Nikirk.
He is survived by: his children, John Mark Nikirk (Dawn) of Oolitic and Kathy Shaw (James) of Bedford; his grandchildren, Jared Crane of Matthew Nikirk, T. J, Wright and Jessica Rowley; and his sisters, Warnetta Kirkman and Bonnie Noblitt.
